Rumor has it Dan Cnossen is coming back for 2010
That is right folks we could have one hell of a showdown here for our 3rd Annual Navy Diver Olympics. The toughest 10 minutes in Coronado just got tougher. Our current reigning champion, and current record holder for push ups, is Paul Watson. But West Coast legend Tiko Crofoot, current record holder for pull ups, probably won’t let that last long as he was unable to attend last year’s event. We personally think there is no one going to touch this guy on the pull ups portion of the contest. Unless… if Cnossen, current record holder for 8 counts, shows up he will definitely be the crowd favorite and a little lighter in weight than his last appearance. Dan did 42 his first time around, just 6 shy of Tiko. Lee Morrison, current record holder for lunges, said his record will never be beaten. At 39 years old this was really an amazing physical feat for any age.
Does age matter? We think it does. Although all of those competing in the contest are in excellent physical condition there is definitely an edge for those who have become record holders. We have added up the age of all record holders and then divided by the 4 records we currently measure and the number was 34 years of age on average. Morrison might tip the scale a little bit, but not that much. It has to boil down to the hundreds of extra hours on the bar and in the lean and rest. Don’t be discouraged youngsters these guys are really the best of the best. There are thousands of young gym rats and geeks out there with big muscles. They know better than to show up.
